Complexity Reduction for Gorenstein Polytopes

Gorenstein polytopes are lattice polytopes, that can be scaled to obtain a reflexive lattice polytope. While reflexive polytopes have been classified up to dimension 4 (the number of them is as high as 473.800.776), much less is known for the seemingly only slightly more general class of Gorenstein polytopes. The goal of the project is to use techniques of discrete and convex geometry as well as the fruitful correspondence between lattice polytopes and toric varieties in order to investigate the complexity of these objects.
