Abstract

After introducing the basic notions of deep learning and training deep neural networks (DNNs) for perception systems, we explain the usage of DNNs within software systems for highly automated driving functions. Within those safety critical systems, the need for evaluating the safety is imperative. We will present some of the key challenges with respect to the development and continual usage of DNNs in autonomous systems and propose some approaches to mitigate those challenges.
